Newtown Celebrates 325 Years
William Penn laid out Philadelphia, in 1682. Then he traveled north through land he had purchased from the local Indians. Some 28 miles northeast of Philadelphia, in a grove that bordered a creek flowing to the Delaware River, he allegedly announced "This is where I propose to build my new town." Visit www.newtownpa.us for details on this hisitorical celebration. |
